Women’s Pathway Operations Manager
To support the development and operational implementation of all national pathway programmes within the Welsh Rugby Union. Coordinate and deliver all activities for the women’s pathway (U18 and U21). The role will ensure robust systems and processes are implemented across all programmes and sound logistical planning and communication are embedded throughout.

Location: WRU National Centre of Excellence, Hensol
Hours of work: 17.5 per week (0.5FTE). To be successful in the role, the postholder will need to be willing to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.

Contractual status: Fixed Term for 6 months (subject to 3-month probationary period)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
Management experience within a high-performance sports environment
Disciplined Budget management with previous experience in managing complex and multiple budgets
Operations, logistics, and project management abilities
Working and decision making under pressure
Understanding of Welsh National Teams desirable
Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable
The Role
Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities
Team Operations and Logistics: Coordinate and manage all operations and logistics relating to competition and training across national pathway programmes (including Celtic Challenge). Work with and oversee deployed women’s team Managers to ensure a common philosophy and culture of operational excellence is in place across all national programmes. Acting as a central point of contact for all programmes, ensure communication to all squads and management is delivered effectively. Contribute to programme planning and reviews and support the coaching staff to enhance the culture of each programme as agreed and directed by the National Lead (Player Development & Pathways).
Women’s U21 Team Manager: Provide strong leadership to the WU21 programme as the team’s Manager. Working with the Women’s Pathway Senior Coach, ensure long term strategy drives programme planning and campaign delivery, and an ‘off field’ culture of excellence that maximises development outcomes while achieving performance goal.
Competition Operation & Logistics (Domestic & International): Working with pathway leadership, ensure annual calendars for domestic and international competition programmes are in place, reviewed periodically, communicated clearly, and held centrally. Act as the central point of contact with World Rugby, Six Nations, and other stakeholders to ensure all terms of participation are met logistically. Create strong relationships with the Regional Academies and Player Development Centres to deliver the domestic competition programme.
Financial Management and Oversight of Wales Pathway programmes: Working in partnership with the finance department and the Men’s Pathway Operations Manager, act as a central contact for women’s pathway budgets. Work with the various programme leads/managers to build annual and periodic budget forecasts, review and report spend against approved budgets ensuring spend is both prioritised against the One Wales strategy and within budgeting targets. Lead on other financial related matters within the national pathway such as ensuring functional areas are financially compliant and capable (i.e. raising POs and processing invoices) and the development and implementation of an agreed expenses policy for pathway players across all national programmes.
Support pan Wales initiatives and projects of national importance related to the Women’s Performance Pathway as determined by the National Lead (Player Development & Pathways).
Be an active member of the WRU Pathway Team bringing ideas and practice to our ways of working.
Carry out duties to help support the WRU mission statement in line with the WRU Group values.

The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
