Assistant Accountant
The Assistant Accountant supports the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role involves managing day-to-day financial transactions, assisting with month-end and year-end processes, preparation of VAT returns and statutory reporting for subsidiaries.

Salary: £31,000 - £37,000 per annum.
Location: Principality Stadium, Cardiff
Hours of work: 35 per week. Monday to Friday.
Our working hours are generally 9am – 5pm but our approach to hybrid working - ‘Team Tactics’ means you can flex your hours and attendance in the office to support a sustainable work-life balance.
Responsible to: Accounting Manager
Contractual status: Permanent. Subject to 6-month probationary period.
The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working in a similar role within a Finance team.
- Working towards a professional accounting qualification (for which you will be supported to complete).
- Experience of working with accounting and Finance systems.
- Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft package
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable
The Role
Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities
- Management of Group bank accounts and supporting with daily cashflow forecasting.
- Preparation of month end and year end closing procedures, including posting journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations across multiple group entities.
- Reconcile daily ticket sales and control accounts.
- Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring that transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support with the preparation of the monthly management information for manager review.
- Support the preparation of year-end financial reports.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with other statutory filings.
- Prepare payroll journal and review reconciliations.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.
- Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and Values.

WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
