Director of Sales, Marketing and Communications
Role Summary:
Responsible for elevating the brand presence of WRU and the Welsh Regional teams domestically and internationally.
This position is responsible for sales, marketing and communications strategies with accountability for driving the revenue targets across the WRU. Working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and Commercial Director to maximise opportunities that enhance the WRU brand and align with WRU growth goals.
Location: Principality Stadium, Cardiff
Hours of work: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday.
Our standard working hours are generally 9am – 5pm but our approach to hybrid working - ‘Team Tactics’ means you can flex your hours and attendance in the office and at events to support a sustainable work-life balance
Due to the nature of our business, attendance at out of hours events during evenings and weekends are an essential part of this role.
Salary: £100,000 per annum. Plus, 30% bonus depending on achievement of growth goals.
Working arrangements: Permanent. Subject to a 6-month probationary period

The Person
- Experience in senior management roles with a focus on commercial growth, brand and reputation.
- Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that have significantly increased stakeholder engagement and revenue.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team towards achieving ambitious growth targets.
- Understanding of data analytics and technology trends that support digital marketing strategies.
- Understanding of marketing and sales techniques.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships across all levels of an organisation and with external partners, media and stakeholders.
- Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance.
- Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable.
The Role
- Accountable for and Leadership of the Sales, Marketing and Communications related activities.
- Accountable for the sales and marketing within Principality Stadium Experience Ltd.
- Increasing diversity and overall engagement of Welsh Rugby audiences through marketing, communication and social media innovation. Collaborating with regional clubs to support growth and fan interaction on owned digital platforms.
- Ensure team-level strategies and objectives are aligned with the One Wales strategy utilising an agreed brand proposition.
- Develop and implement a strategic communications strategy that considers the engagement of all internal and external stakeholders and opportunities to maximise stakeholder engagement and enhance partnership collaborations including Media, Welsh government and rugby influencers.
- Accountability for the delivery of the Welsh Language Strategy, maximising the reach and engagement with fans, communities and clubs.
- Develop strategies to increase the number of major events at the stadium, increasing revenue through enhanced fan experience and F&B and hospitality revenue.

WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
